KaiserDillon Partner Jon Jeffress Testifies before District of Columbia City Council on Criminal Justice Bills
KaiserDillon Partner Jon Jeffress offered testimony on Thursday, April 7, 2021 before the District of Columbia City Council’s Committee on the Judiciary & Public Safety regarding several bills aimed at expanding and improving D.C.’s procedures for expunging and sealing criminal records.
Jon’s testimony addressed the urgent need for new and comprehensive expungement and record-sealing legislation in D.C. to mitigate the pernicious collateral consequences of old convictions and mere arrests that never result in convictions at all. Jon’s testimony was offered on behalf of the Council for Court Excellence (CCE), a key stakeholder on criminal justice issues in D.C., where Jon is a member of the Board of Directors.
